What is MAPSOSCARY??

MAPSOSCARY officially launched in 2019 on @livelovemaplewood’s Instagram feed. It began as a photo collection of Maplewood and South Orange’s creatively decorated Halloween houses. The people loved it! They asked for more! They decorated for Halloween like never before!!

Why?? Because the residents of Maplewood and South Orange are FUN, CREATIVE, INVENTIVE, and a LITTLE CRAZY (in a GOOD way!!!). A couple years later it became a contest… and YOU voted for your favorite houses!!

Then we added a Google map of houses (so you can tour!), local sponsors, awesome prizes, and more fun!!! We’re JUST GETTING STARTED!!!

2023 MAPSOSCARY:

Thank you to the over 50 SOMA residents who entered!!

We had 20 final MAPSOSCARY houses in Maplewood and South Orange!

AND TWO WINNERS WHO WERE ALMOST PERFECTLY TIED!!!

  • All 20 homes were featured on @livelovemaplewood’s Instagram feed. Each house got an individual post with pics and videos that @livelovemaplewood takes.

  • Instagram posts was where the voting happened: Live love Maplewood did a post on EACH of the 20 finalists. The houses with the most likes won!

  • We shared each home equally, but it was up to you to ask your friends to vote.

  • The 20 finalists had a MAPSOSCARY lawn sign placed in front of their home - this helped families identify the Halloween houses.

  • Instagram voting closed on October 28th, 2023 at 5pm EST.

  • The 2023 Grand Prize was $100 cash and tickets to a SOPAC show of choice.
